It was fun to design this deck using materials found at the landfill.  There was a lot of 3x4 lumber that I picked up there.
I laminated this lumber into beams to be covered with the 2x6s also found at the dump.  They were brand new and I put wood preservative on them. We spent money mainly on that and a lot of long deck screws.
I had just enough 2x6s to cover the whole area but decided on only covering 1/2.  The garden area would later be filled with rocks and finished with crushed gravel.
I cut all the bad ends off and pulled a few spikes from each board. I also took a beltsander to them.
When I finally covered the deck beams I decided to laminate the 2x6s into 2x12s that ran the whole length of the deck.  Stella harvested the first potatoes from the garden.
